WLPO Sports Director, Lanny Slevin, is a veteran of over 35 years in the broadcast industry. Born in Washington,

D.C. and reared in Peoria, Illinois, he attended St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa. Lanny then spent 4 years in the U.S. Air Force, serving in Greenland. Lanny's broadcast career started at WPRC in Lincoln, Illinois. During his three years there he worked into the broadcast side of the business, specializing in sports reporting. He came to WLPO in the fall of 1973 and since that time has broadcast over 3000 events, primarily in high school and junior college. The highest honors accorded Lanny so far in his career occurred in 1996 when he was named to the National Junior College Hall of Fame, the only media person in the nation so honored; and in 1985 when he was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in the media category. Slevin was also the voice of the statewide radio program "The Illinois High School Association Sports Report." Lanny lives in Peru with his wife Joanne. They are the parents of nine children and five grandchildren.
