John Small is a fifth-generation grain farmer residing north of LaSalle. At age 7, John became fascinated with radio and later worked part-time at WGSY before joining WLPO. John has a BA in Speech-Communications from Monmouth College. John went full-time in 1994 and presently "watches the store" weeknights and weekends. John co-hosts Farm Radio with Rod Thorson four times a week and also voices news, weather, sports, commercials and community calendar events. John says "Sunday mornings are a lot of fun giving away donuts, reading funny e-mails, announcing birthdays and anniversaries and playing some of my favorite oldies." Twice a year John hosts "Business and Industrial Review" on WLPO. John's interests include tornado spotting (he's still looking), taking in the view of open country on a clear day, cheering the U of I teams ("keep the chief!"). John's a trustee of Waltham Presbyterian Church, a Farm Bureau Member and a past director of LaSalle County Soil & Water Conservation District. John says he's "proud to be an American!"
